Nine Lives is the new name for the Old Possums project in Invergordon and Alness. Funded by HealthKind one of 51 community interest companies raising money to address health inequalities across England, Scotland and Wales through The Health Lottery. The steering group members from the community are flowing with creative ideas and we’re all very excited. Creativity In Care are thrilled to be supporting this project through a range of freelance artists dancers, creative writers, puppeteers and people who love singing. The project includes people living with dementia, people in top jobs, people who use mental health support services, people who love arts and people who enjoy being part of something creative. Sessions so far have included: Monday January 26th Invergordon Museum 2-4pm – repeated 6-7:30pm introduction to project and ‘who are you?’ Monday February 9th Joss Street Hall 2-4pm repeated 6-8pm (7-8pm with the Youth Group). Hall 2-4pm Creative Writing with tea and cakes Monday February 23rd Invergordon Museum 2-4pm – repeated 6-7:30pm exploring Grayson Perry-style maps of who we are… mapping ourselves. The project follows on from ‘Old Possums Phase 1’, (funded by RCOP), which was based on T.S. Eliot’s ‘Old Possums’ book of practical cats’. We’re exploring who we are and what our community means through a variety of arts, leading to performance and exhibitions later this year.
PERFORMANCE: The Nine Lives Theory Eden Court Wednesday 7th October evening performance. Other venues tba. The project will continue in Invergordon and begin in Alness after Easter. Areas included are South Lodge housing scheme; houses behind Invergordon High Street; and Saltburn Rd; Plus Westford and Teaninich, Alness. The project will link with various organisations as it develops.
